I grew up in Missouri where I spent my childhood driving my hot rod tractor, watching Saturday morning cartoons, and drawing characters from the newspaper comics. In college I earned a BFA degree in Commercial Art and soon after graduation, got my first job in the art department of a publishing house in Tennessee.
In Nashville I got married and had two great kids. I continued to create illustrations for the publishing house for a wide variety of products including books, games, magazines, posters, cards, and curriculum.
In 1994 I began my freelance illustration career. My illustrations were created with watercolor for many years. A tricky medium, but I mastered the art of laying down a wash and painting clean, bright colors. I have learned much from the many watercolor workshops I have taken over the years and from the more recent workshops I have taken on oil painting. I am applying all of what I have learned to painting in acrylics now.
